The Montefortino style helms are named for the find site -- the Necropolis at Montefortino in northern Italy -- where many examples of this type of helm have been found. Based on similar finds all over Europe, this type of helm appears to have been quite common among the Gallic Celts and Celt-Iberians, and was also adopted by the Roman Republican and early Imperial armies which used the style from the Punic Wars to the first half of the first century CE. This Montefortino-type helm is based on an example from the 4th to 3rd centuries BCE. This helm is made of 16 gauge ruddy bronze with a roped edge, cheekpieces and a crest knob and is made for us exclusively by International Steelcrafts, (India).
